Avangard Hockey Club has signed Canadian forward Michael McLeod to a three-year contract.
Alexei Sopin, Avangard HC General Manager:
— Given past experience, we had to be cautious and stay under the radar. However, I must note that the negotiation process did not take long. The player everyone has been waiting for will again be wearing an Avangard jersey. The good news for the fans is that Mike is already in Omsk and he will go to the road trip together with the team. He won’t be able to play in Ekaterinburg due to paperwork that needs to be done, then everything will depend on him and the coaching staff. We are happy that this complicated story has ended positively for both us and the player.
Michael McLeod started the previous season with Barys, played 16 games and scored 6 points (3+3). After that, the forward moved to Avangard, appeared in 28 games, earned 21 points (4+17) and was plus-13. In the NHL, McLeod played 299 games for the New Jersey Devils, scored 31 goals and was credited with 60 assists.
McLeod will be wearing number 9 in Avangard.
