Avangard Hockey Club has signed coach Raphael Richer to a contract running through the 2026/27 season.
Alexei Sopin, Avangard HC General Manager:
- We are excited to welcome the Canadian specialist to our staff. Despite being relatively young, Raphael has already made a name for himself in our league. Last season, his work with the Chelyabinsk club earned well-deserved high praise from experts. Once he became available for signing, it didn’t take us long to reach an agreement on the contract. Of course, Guy Boucher’s strong interest in bringing Raphael Richer on board was a key factor. The coach is already here in Omsk and will begin working with the team in the coming days.
The 31-year-old Richer worked in Canadian junior leagues. In 2024, he joined the coaching staff of Chelyabinsk Traktor and helped the team make the Gagarin Cup Final. In December 2025, he left Chelyabinsk after serving as an interim head coach for several games.
